Graffiti burners book

April 27th, 2011

A Burner is a piece of graffiti that is so good that it burns everything else around it. In other words, it is the best. In cities worldwide, graffiti art is constantly being taken to higher levels. The will to burn all resistance, to outdo all the others, brings about unexpected and amazing results. Graffiti Burners shows us how techniques have been refined and letter construction distorted, how colour combinations have blossomed and concepts developed. The competition for mastery is burning hot! In addition to amazing pictorial material, several of the writers talk about their pieces and what burners mean to them. Moreover, they offer tips and guidance to those who want to do a burner of their own. Graffiti Burners offers a unique opportunity to acquaint oneself with the progress of the last few years; to be inspired and impressed. In Graffiti Burners the world’s foremost writers show us their favourite works. In short, the best of the best! Aroe (UK), Bates (DK), Bio (USA), Kacao77 (D), OsGemeos (BR), Rime (USA), Scan (CA) and Suiko (JP) are just a few of the contributors to the book. Guess what, we’re also featured in the book!

After the Exchange with the very talented Nemo from Sarajevo we also recieved some sketches from his partner in crime ‘Mosk’… We wanted to go all out with these killer sketches and decided to paint them along the railtracks somewhere in Leeuwarden. This spot is one of our favorite spots to paint but we hadn’t been there since a while…

We had to do some serious gardening to get rid of all the reed and other plants which stood in front of the wall.

The back of the cans come in handy when removing old paint from the wall.

Romeo spend quite some time to get the sketches on the wall. Since both sketches had a different flow, we tried to balance them a bit. He pulled it off very nicely though.

Meanwhile Mega painted 3 b-boy characters next to the pieces and after that we worked together on both pieces.

Eventually we had to rush because it allready was getting dark, but we finished the wall just in time to get good pictures. Thanks Mosk for the killer sketches and we hope you like the outcome… We sure did… check the endresult here after the jump

Coolcats from Sneek

March 28th, 2011

Spring is finally here… this means more time to work on our pieces. This time we took a retro character from an old Dutch clothing brand called Coolcat. We put our names next to it and wanted to paint a bit loose. It’s hard to let go of the standard painting ‘rules’ we practised for years and years. But we’re slowly learning to let things go and discover new angles to make our work more interesting to look at… Check the endresult after the jump >click<

Colorful and decorated

March 16th, 2011

We were asked to paint something in a local youthcentre. It was in a room where all kind of activities are held for kids from 4 – 8 years old. So we thought something colorful would be nice for them to look at. We did add some characters of the Robots movie in front of the piece… They really liked the wall. Another job wel done…. Thanks Molotow for the support. Expect something in return soon…

The meltdown

February 14th, 2011

This time we did another experiment with primary colors. We wanted to add a melting effect to the letters without the letters becoming unreadable. To get the best result we thought that the fill in should be mostly done with hard edges and the melted part only with curly waves. It worked very well. Check out the endresult after the jump

Nasty Sons x Angry Birds

January 30th, 2011

This is our homage to the game Angry Birds by Rovio. We painted a level with all the birds in it accompanied by our names. We did make the letters in the style of the logo of the game.

Since the characters have no outline we used Belton Molotow transparant colors to make shades and effects.

It’s still very cold overhere in Holland, so we painted in sessions of several hours during 2 days. On the start of the second day there was a layer of ice on the wall which we had to scrape of first. Luckily the day turned out to be very sunny, so we could finish the wall.

More Google streetview graffiti

January 19th, 2011

We did post a while ago about finding some work of us on Google streetview. This was only in our own area. The famous Sydhavn hall o fame in Copenhagen is now also on streetview and guess what. One of our productions can be found there. It’s the striking like a viking wall we did with Bates. Check the hall of fame yourself…. > click <

Here’s a clip we made of our trips to New York in 2004 and 2006.
Check it out.
