Out of this world

October 29th, 2011

We planned to do this conceptwall for quite a long time, but for some reasons there always came something inbetween. We we’re lucky  that for the time of the year (autumn) the weather forecast was pretty good. So we decided it was time to paint the concept.

We rollerpainted the background in  a spacy green color and used some colors of the Molotow range to make a glow. After that we rolled the bottompart also, but this time in a pink color. Next it was time to make some fading on the upperpart of the wall with fatcaps. Romeo focussed on the background first and meanwhile Mega painted the character. After that was finished we both focussed on our pieces. Since the wall is not so big we had to keep our pieces relatively simple.

We just finished before dark… Another project done and onto the next one!

Graffiti umbrella

October 18th, 2011

We had some fun customizing our own graffiti umbrella. Romeo came up with the idea of painting an umbrella in graffiti style a while ago. Since it was raining we couldn’t paint outside, so we decided it was about time to pimp the umbrella’s. We never did see a graffiti umbrella before so it was a nice experiment to try.

We even made some footage of the final result.

We like to burn big

September 28th, 2011

Graffiti is all about getting your name up… We started in 1985 and back then we could only dream about making big murals. We didn’t know how to do it and also didn’t have the paint to do it… So we started with small pieces. During the years we got a lot of experience and figured out how to get things done…

We thought it was about time to do an extra large style piece of our names. We did paint large pieces before, but this time we wanted to make style pieces, which are a lot harder to make on a larger scale. The total length of the pieces is approx. 4.5 m high x 45 m long. An extra handicap was that the wall wasn’t flat (see sideview pics below) and there was a canal in front of the wall, so we could not easily check the proportions of the pieces.. All in all we spent 1.5 days on the wall. We’re satisfied with the endresult…. check the total wall here… > click <

We dedicated this wall to King Robbo… Get well soon!

The Step in the Arena festival 2011 was a huge succes. The line up of the artists was very good and we were glad to be part of it again. The flyer of the event was done in primary printcolors (CMYK), so we thought it would be nice to do our pieces also in these colors. A parrot would colourwise fit perfectly in combination with the colourscheme. We added a little twist by making the parrot in pirate style. On the right there’s a piece by Jiroe from the Heavy Artillery crew. Thanks to Stonie B for the actionphoto’s. The final wall can be viewed here >click<

Skrift festival Leeuwarden

June 22nd, 2011

We went to a 2 day jam in Leeuwarden called “Skrift” (Frisian word for writing). Unfortunately the weather expectations where real worse: 2 days of continuous rainshowers and heavy wind. But the first day was mostly dry. We managed to squeeze this wall out… The endresult could have been better if it wasn’t so wet on the second day… Better luck next time! For the endresult click here

This is how we roll…

June 7th, 2011

Painting a big blockbuster piece with rollerpaint is allways fun. Problem is to find a suitable spot for those pieces. This spot is located next to a railroad track, so very readable from the passing trains.
Most people think it’s easy to do blockbusters, but actually it’s more difficult to make a good blockbuster than a regular piece. All the proportions of the letters have to be right, otherwise it doesn’t look good. Check the outcome of the wall after the jump

The meltdown

February 14th, 2011

This time we did another experiment with primary colors. We wanted to add a melting effect to the letters without the letters becoming unreadable. To get the best result we thought that the fill in should be mostly done with hard edges and the melted part only with curly waves. It worked very well. Check out the endresult after the jump

Nasty Sons x Angry Birds

January 30th, 2011

This is our homage to the game Angry Birds by Rovio. We painted a level with all the birds in it accompanied by our names. We did make the letters in the style of the logo of the game.

Since the characters have no outline we used Belton Molotow transparant colors to make shades and effects.

It’s still very cold overhere in Holland, so we painted in sessions of several hours during 2 days. On the start of the second day there was a layer of ice on the wall which we had to scrape of first. Luckily the day turned out to be very sunny, so we could finish the wall.
